Thanks to a Shuttleworth Foundation Flash Grant I'm going to be able to do something I've wanted to do for a while: run a Raspberry Pi course.
Assuming I can use the schools PC lab (keyboard, mouse, monitor) I need less than $100 per student.
I've contacted 2 schools. My plan is to take 2 classes of 12 students per school, one per term.
In the past I've taken the whole class, but I think this is a more intensive course and it's probably better to have fewer kids.
A very useful conversation with one of the IT teachers has resulted in the following ideas
- Open the sessions to all students in the school; A volunteer is worth twenty pressed men.
- As a result of the above the sessions will probably have to run out of lesson times, probaby lunchtime.
- No fixed lesson plan, encourage the students to pick a project and support them.
